Re: Retrieve missing components with changed name

an advice...

do not change the name from explorer, always change it from inside creo only.

when ever you are changing name keep all linked creo files in session.

if the linked files are not in session and file is renamed creo keeps looking for older name.

Inconsistent assemblies when no ground

I'm trying to make a ball bearing using the Pin assembly constraint

Sometimes I need the internal runner to spin, and other times the outer runner to spin, therefore, I cannot make one or another Default.

If I make it default, I get "You may not drag a model belonging to the ground body"

If I leave it Automatic, mechanica cries bricks when I try to put it on an assembly

(And I don't like the squares between the icon and the name of the part on the model tree)

CreoBearingNoGround.png

It's not only the bearing.

Sometimes I make a whole arbor loose so I can make it a pin on a third assembly

There's got to be a way to overcome this

You need to have a fixed ground in your assembly, but that does not need to be a part.  I have not tried this, but I would thing that you can create an assembly axis and use the pin connection on both components to the assembly axis and an assembly plane.  Then both would be free to spin.

When placed in a higher level assembly, you would then fix either the inner or outer component to other parts in the assy as needed.

Your logic is perfect, but Creo is cheat-resistant

If I fix (Fix constraint) the object on the datums (if that's what you suggested), creo assumes that the object is the ground.

If I Pin the object using the datums, the not-well-constrained square appears between the icon and the name of the part and subparts on the model tree.

I will test this assembly on the bigger assembly, but I really think we are back to squat.

I think I did not pay attention when I assembled this thing for the first time

I CAN make the inner race default. If I attach that race to an arbor (rigid constraints, not pin - just as expected in real life), and the arbor spins, the bearing will work normally: the inner will follow the arbor, and the outer will be fixed.

I guess this topic can be frozen

Stop sign in save a copy

Why do I get stop signs beside some asm when trying to save a copy of an asm?  I have a green light at the asm level, no failed features?

offset lines in 3.0

upgraded to 3.0 from 2.0 and now some of our offset lines have lost references.  is there anyway to fix these without deleting them?

Component operations > Copy

My company just moved from Wildfire 4 to Creo 2.0 and I notice that he component operation copy does not work the same anymore.

Used to be while in an assembly I could pick this copy command, select a number of components and then it would ask me if I wanted to change any dimensions or not then would ask for new references for each component that was not assembled to a component with in the copied set.  If I did not want new referenced I could just pick "same" and move on.  Once finished it would create a group with all the copied components in it.

I cannot figure out how to get it to work that way.  Am I missing something?

Thanks, Chris

Try "Feature Operations" instead of "Component Operations."  A component is a feature of an assembly, so I think this should work for you.

That was it.  The mapkey that I was using must have been using feature copy instead of component and I just didn't know it.

I saw this the other day when I had merge features.  I renamed those items also and no issue.

Could it be this issue (assuming we talk about offset lines for explode states in Creo Parametric):

CS181735 : Creation/Modification of Offset Lines in Exploded States of assembly Instances are unexpectedly lost when retrieving the Assembly Generic in Creo Parametric 3.0

Seems to be fixed in datecode M020

yes to exploded offset lines.  I downloaded m030 and still have the problem. doesn't seem to be fixed anymore

Due to the control mechanisms we have in place, "no longer fixed" is not impossible, but less likely than this being two different issues with similar symptoms or the fix being only partial (working for the reported example, but not for your model).

You should open a case with Technical Support, providing your model, if nobody else can help.

Re: Interchange assembly question

Almost 3 years later, but maybe usefull for other too :-)

Today I am also updating my Interchange Assembly to include an Component Interface to all our fasteners. (The Component Interface is an axis constraint and a mate constraint).

For the Interchange Assembly, you will need to add a Reference Tag and then "drill down" to the Component Interfaces of your part, then select the Component Interface (in your case "PICK_CS_LIGHT").

As soon as I added this Reference Tag, I could swap my fasteneres (constrained by the Component Interface) without the warning you mentioned.

Note: We are working with WildFire 4.0

Creo and Ansys integration for multiple design iterations

I have plug-in to transfer Creo assemblies to Ansys.

My purpose is to somehow understand the effect of individual part changes in Creo assemblies with the help of workbench. I do not want to create new assemblies with modified parts and then be importing to Workbench. I want to know if there are tricks in Creo to come up with multiple design iterations which can be analyzed in Workbench quickly. Thanks.

Creo 2.0 simplefied reps tool is not good in comparision to PTC wildfire-4.

Creating the simplified Reps quickly was one of the power full tool of large assembly management. That was excellent upto version PTC wildfire-4.

But in Creo-2 this simplified reps creation is very much complex..Its not that much simple & quick as it used to be..

That small window itself takes large time in case of large assembly. And sometime system hangs...I hope PTC would draw the attention to change this tool to wildfire-4 level.

Because this is an excellent tool for large assembly management & with Creo-2 instead of improvement user has to struggle a lot to quickly make,Redefine a simplified reps.

Thanks..

Try this in your config:

new_wf5_simp_rep_ui no

This will make Creo use the old style simp rep dialog:
